"How are u Doing? How's Life?"

Honestly what do pple expect to hear when they ask such a qs? Do they ask coz they really care, or are they just asking for the sake of asking? My take is, either u really care shit abt the person in qs, and that u have the intention to probe further. Else, just never ask, pls.

Why do pple ask this for the sake of asking anyway? It becomes a superficial qs that just makes u look (1) stupid, coz u have nothing more intelligent/interesting to ask (2) boring, coz u cant bother to excite the party u are trying to start a conversation with (3) lazy, coz that the commonest qs anyone can ask a stranger/acquaintance/someone u havent met in a while.

Actually, it wouldnt really matter if the person who asked it didnt matter to you (or me) at all. Obviously I am rather upset coz the person who asked me this silly old qs didnt reply after I told her how I was doing! I am annoyed!
